There seems to be GCC patches for this somewhere, or it perhaps depends
on how the compiler was built. Tried to reproduce it with a compiler
which reports itself as 2.95.2 (the one on the SourceForge shell
server), but there the assembly ouput there looks perfectly sane, quite
different from the reported problem..
