Would using different functions instead of flags be a "cleaner", less
confusing/error-prone approach?
myfilterNoteHeaders(buf, ...) // guaranteed to be called once
myFilterNoteData(buf, ...) // called zero or more times
myFilterNoteEnd(...) // guaranteed to be called once
If nothing else, it will make coredump analysis easier. :)
