ftp failing!!!

I am using 1.2beta and currently when i try to access ftp site using the
proxy, it tells me this:

An FTP protocol error occurred while trying to retrieve the URL:
ftp://ftp.blah.com
Squid sent the following FTP command:

and then received this reply

This might be caused by an FTP URL with an absolute path (which does not
comply with RFC 1738). If this is the cause, then the file can be found at
ftp://ftp.blah.com/%2f/

When i turn the proxy off and go through the transparent proxy hence STILL
using the proxy, it works fine.

Any ideas?
