Next patch... :-)

OK, I realised why my last patch doesn't work on Solaris/SPARC, it doesn't
fix the poll() case. So now I've changed it so that it should work with both
select() and poll().

The new patch is at:

The changes remain the same as the last patch, just that there's a few more in
comm_select.c so that things should be fixed for both select() and poll().
