You get the above error message if the hostname of the server is not a
fully qualified name.

To solve the problem either reconfigure the host to be named using a fully
qualified name or set visible_hostname in squid.conf.

If you get the error despite having set visible_hostname then you either

a) Are not editing the correct squid.conf.

b) Have not really set the visible_hostname in your squid.conf. Remember
to remove the leading # if using the default configuration (# is comments)
